  • Worked part time for The Associated Press and spent 1 ½ years as a part-time copy editor at The St. Petersburg Times (now Tampa Bay Times).

  • Worked part time for The Associated Press, writing articles and editing copy produced by non-native English speakers in bureaus throughout Central and Eastern Europe.

  • Worked as field producer for “Secrets of the Sequence,” which aired on PBS, about a new DNA identification project in Bosnia.

  • Part of a team from Workforce that was a 2013 Neal Award finalist.
  • Received a fellowship from the German Marshall Fund of the United States in 1993 to study the economies of European Union countries. Based in Brussels, Belgium, and traveled extensively in Western Europe.
